Ohme ePod EV charger

The Ohme ePod is a compact 7.4kW smart EV charger designed for convenient, intelligent home charging without a permanently attached cable.

With its untethered Type 2 socket, the ePod gives drivers the flexibility to use their own compatible charging cable and works with both Type 1 and Type 2 electric vehicles when used with the appropriate cable. Its discreet design makes it ideal for homes where a compact charger is preferred.

Through the Ohme app, drivers can schedule charging sessions, integrate their electricity tariff, monitor energy use, and optimise charging around cheaper electricity periods. The ePod also supports solar charging and dynamic home load balancing when used with the supplied CT clamp.

The Australian ePod is rated at 7.4kW / 32A, and the supplied CT clamp enables dynamic load balancing by monitoring the property's electrical demand.

• Professional installation
• Dedicated circuit protection and overcurrent protection required for installation
• Electrical cabling between the switchboard and charger
• Any switchboard or electrical supply upgrades that may be required
• Additional weatherproof glands or installation accessories required for non-standard installations

Because the ePod is an untethered charger, a charging cable is not permanently attached to the unit. Customers will need an appropriate cable for their vehicle. The charger itself uses a Type 2 socket.

The charger includes integral Type A 30mA and 6mA DC earth-leakage protection, but overcurrent protection is not built in and must be provided separately as part of the electrical installation.

Installation

Professional installation is required for this charger to function safely and as intended. The Ohme ePod must be installed by a competent electrician with appropriate EV charging knowledge and in accordance with relevant Australian electrical requirements, including AS/NZS 3000.

This purchase option does not include installation services. You are responsible for organising a professional installation service and ensuring the installer follows all necessary installation instructions.

Important note

The Australian Ohme ePod connects through the customer's Wi-Fi network. Unlike the UK version of the ePod, the Australian model should not be advertised as having a 4G SIM connection.

Dynamic load balancing and solar charging require a correctly installed CT clamp. Ohme supplies a CT clamp with the charger, and Ohme recommends installing it even where load balancing is not immediately required so the installation is ready for features such as solar charging.
